Ritual Life

Temple Beth Sholom has entered into a two-day-per-week Religious School consortium in  partnership with Temple Israel of Ridgewood called the Northern New Jersey Jewish Academy (NNJJA). Classes will be held at Temple Israel with many shared events and special programming to be held at TBS.

Students having access to five clergy, teachers, and aides will foster individualized attention.

Classes provide a caring environment where children celebrate, learn, and experience the joys of being Jewish. The rich curriculum integrates Jewish holidays and traditions, Hebrew prayer and language, values, Bible and Israel. TBS provides a professionally led Saturday morning Junior Congregation service that enhances the educational experience. Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation is integrated into classroom studies and given on an individual basis.

The Helen Troum Nursery School and Kindergarten, since 1975, has provided a developmentally appropriate program for children ages 2-5, after school enrichment, Mommy and Me program and a summer camp. The programs offer a quality early childhood curriculum and an introduction to Jewish traditions, holidays, music and language. The school serves families with young children from other congregations as well as unaffiliated families from Fair Lawn and the surrounding communities.

Learning

The Adult Education Program sponsors a selection of thought-provoking programs and classes to enhance the Jewish education and Jewish conversation among our members, around topics of Talmud, history, holidays, practices, and contemporary issues. The program provides the opportunity for everyone to learn, often educating one another in the process. Programs include scholar-in-residence, lectures, classes, Lunch-and-Learn, Torah Study Group, and special events, throughout the year, all aimed to create and grow a learning community.

Sunday, November 2, 10:30 AM – Adult Education lecture series “A Time for Peace, A Time for War” continues with "Apocalyptic Wars in the Bible".
